Brief description of the training:

Quantitative methods for evaluating policies and programs have grown in popularity over the past two decades. Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) are considered the gold standard for assessing policy impacts due to their ability to establish clear causal relationships. However, RCTs can be expensive and are not always practical. In such cases, quasi-experimental methods offer a more practical and cost-effective alternative. These methods allow for the evaluation of policies and programs when randomization is not feasible, using structured approaches to approximate the conditions of RCTs. Understanding these methods helps policymakers, researchers, and practitioners generate credible evidence to inform decisions.

This two-day training program introduces participants to quasi-experimental methods for policy impact evaluation. Designed for beginners, the program focuses on:

  • Basic Concepts: Building a foundational understanding of quasi-experimental designs.
  • Real-World Examples: Exploring practical applications of these methods.
  • Hands-On Practice: Providing opportunities to apply the methods in practice.

By the end of the training, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence to start using quasi-experimental methods in their work.
